Japanese map of northern Australia and New Guinea, 1942. Produced by the Japanese Department of Waterways in May 1942, this map presents intelligence data related to airports, navigation beacons, signal points and broadcasting stations on Cape York and northern Australia at that time. A map numbered in this series (and showing all of Queensland) was found in Borneo in July 1945 by Lt-Col  A.L. Rose of the 1^st Australian Combined Operations Section. It was on display at the Royal United Services Institute Hall, Victoria Barracks, Brisbane, in 2010. Collection of the Queensland State Archives
