Queensland sheep and wool industry, 1918

Queensland sheep and wool industry, 1918. Compiled and issues by the Government Intelligence and Tourist Bureau, Queensland. According to this publication, ‘Queensland stands pre-eminent among all the States of the Commonwealth of Australia in regard to her pastoral possibilities. This particularly applies to sheep-raising. Today Queensland  is the largest cattle-raising country in the Commonwealth of Australia, and it is only a matter of time when she will also be the largest sheep breeder … The days of large holdings, comprising hundreds, and even thousands, of square miles of country, are fast becoming a thing of the past. Future pastoralists will, in pursuance of the new policy adopted in regard to land settlement, have to be content with much smaller areas.’ Collection of the Centre for the Government of Queensland
