Extended caption:

Aerial survey west of Tully, 1936. This text described the benefits of aerial survey to assist the settlement and exploitation of lands in northern Queensland. In 1936, Adastra Airways Ltd was contracted for the aerial survey of about 650 square miles west of Tully. The company established its headquaters in Cairns and despite bad weather, succeeded in surveying approximately 560 square miles. Maps compiled from the photography revealed large tracts of land which had the potential for settlement. Queensland parliamentary papers, Vol 2, 1936-37
