Map showing Queensland’s coal resources in 2007. Prior to the 1980’s when demand for coal was primarily from local markets there was an even distribution of mines across the state. The south was supplied by the coalfields at Ipswich, Rosewood, the Darling Downs and Burrum; central Queensland was supplied by Blair Athol and the Bluff; and the North was supplied by Collinsville and Mt Mulligan.
