The Lewis Estate, Woolloongabba landsale, 1889. The main image for the map is the horse drawn tram that operated from the city to Woolloongabba which was an important selling point for the new housing estate. Trams were a civilizing force and the tram terminus drove large development along Stanley Street which became one of the main shopping strips outside the city in the late nineteenth century.
