Moving the pub at Esk, c1906

Moving the pub at Esk, c1906. The Central Hotel, Esk, was erected on Shady Creek in 1889-90. In 1906 it was decided to move the hotel a mile further up Ipswich Street. Two bullock teams were used. Two wooden wheels were cut from the trunk of an ironbark and a heavy hardwood axle was placed between these wheels. The roof was removed to prevent damage to the telephone lines. The Esk Post Office is on the left. The Central Hotel became the Club Hotel. Collection of John Oxley Library, State Library of Queensland
