Wall telephone, 1908

Telephone communication vastly changed the way that people perceived and experienced distance in Queensland. The Commonwealth Ericsson  was adopted as a standard model by the Australian Post Office and was widely used in Australia. Its decorative housing indicates it was a valued and important item.
