William Green and James Fletcher, Truth (Brisbane), 30 August 1908. The police were aware of goings-on in certain places. In August 1908, one plain-clothes member of the CIB lay in wait on Margaret Street, Brisbane, between William Street and the Brisbane River, as two 20-year-old men, William Green and James Fletcher, made their way to a discrete parcel of land. The officer watched them for three to four minutes, although he denied on two occasions that Fletcher was under surveillance.
