Robert de Castella, Commonwealth Games marathon, St Lucia, 1982

The eventual winner Australian athlete Robert de Castella, Commonwealth Games marathon, Sir Fred Schonell Drive, St Lucia, 1982. The 42 kilometre men’s marathon course started in Stanley Street in South Brisbane and proceeded over Victoria Bridge into the city, out to Newstead and Hamilton, returning through Fortitude Valley then along Coronation drive to St Lucia, returning to South Brisbane via the William Jolly Bridge.
