Horse-drawn Red Cross consignment, 1916

This consignment was packed at the Queensland division headquarters in Adelaide Street before being sent down to the port to be dispatched for the front line and military field hospitals. Despite a shipping dispute hindering the dispatch of this consignment, these bags, bales and bundles had a long journey ahead of them forming a pathway across the Queensland landscape and beyond to Europe or the Middle East.  Red Cross Journal, October 1916.
