Decorative crest for locomotive smokebox, 1934

This crest was mounted on the front of the locomotive used during the Queensland leg of the visit to Australia by the Duke of Gloucester in 1934.

In January 1938 William Coombs (1892-1948) and his family embarked on a trip beginning in Murwillumbah in northern New South Wales to Hayman Island.
